The Job Optimise module uses positioning data generated by the IDENTEC SOLUTIONS On-Board Controllers (OBC) and position sensors to provide intelligent location updates to the Terminal Operating System (TOS). This allows the TOS to make better decisions when distributing jobs to Container Handling Equipment (CHE), allowing Terminal Operations to be as efficient as possible.

Job Optimise can be configured to update the TOS with Container Handling Equipment locations on a time and/or movement basis to achieve optimum operational efficiency and is compliant with Navis XMLRDT 3.x and N4 ECN specifications as well as other Terminal Operating Systems.

Job Optimise in Terminal Tracker

The Job Optimise module performs in the background during CHE Operation. Each time a vehicle is logged into the TOS, the Job Optimise module will send through position updates based on the configured time period and distance travelled rules. The TOS will then be able to adjust the job dispatching based on real-time information and no longer be based on the last container move.

To communicate the position of vehicles to the TOS, the Terminal Tracker OBC monitors the time since the last location update and distance travelled reported by the IDENTEC SOLUTIONS position sensors.

When either of these checks is above the configured values, a position event that includes the current vehicle location will be sent. At the Terminal Tracker server, the event is pushed to the TOS interface.

Through Terminal Tracker User Interface, it is possible to apply the Job Arrive module functionality to all vehicles, a group of vehicles or to disable the XML messaging to revert to a manual operating mode.

Position Update Messaging

Terminal Tracker has a different set of TOS messages for each process automation task (i.e. Job Optimise, Operator Login) that can be manually enabled or disabled. This allows a container terminal to tune the automation to meet its operational requirements.

Job Optimise APIs

While the main benefit comes from optimising terminal operations, Terminal Tracker also comes with data interfaces that allow other systems to receive the position update data. For example, these data interfaces can be utilised to develop custom UI applications for vehicle-mounted or office displays that complement the CTAS user interface for Terminal Tracker. The Job Optimise data interface runs in parallel with the TOS messaging, so there is no limitation between optimising operations and developing a unique UI experience.

Exception Handling

Terminal Tracker includes a set of options that can be configured to handle exception cases that could be related to a desired operational behaviour or where GNSS data is not enough for reliable position detection and reporting to the TOS. The exception-handling behaviour has been derived from years of practical application of the Terminal Tracker solution spread across several unique operating environments.
